REGULATIONS
Preamble
a. The Bastille Art Prize (hereinafter “the Prize”) is an artistic prize organized
by Galerie Bessaud, located at 24bis rue de Charenton, 75012 Paris. The Prize
aims to reveal artists, amateurs or not, whatever their age and
Nationality.
The Bastille Art Prize aims to launch or
strengthen the careers of artists at the international level by
allowing them to see their portfolios analyzed by 12 professionals in the sector,
and for 5 winners to be exhibited in this renowned gallery during the month of
January 2026.
c. The Bastille Art Prize is open to any living artist,
amateur or professional, regardless of age, nationality or place of residence,
working on one or more of the following practices: drawing, engraving,
installation, painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, arts
decorative (textiles and materials, glass, wood, metal, ceramic, mosaic,
paper or other techniques).
d. The only selection criterion taken into account by the jury is the criterion
artistic.
e. The 5 winners of the year win representation by the Galerie Bessaud
for a group show (consisting only of the 5 winners) in its premises during
January 2026. Opening, communication and mediation are
fully supported by the gallery through participation rights. A
contract is established before the exhibition detailing the conditions of this exhibition,
including the artists' remuneration which amounts to 50% of the sale price excluding tax of
each work sold in its framework and the conditions of consignment of the works.
f. No particular theme is imposed. Artists are free to present
a portfolio in a form they choose, containing the works they
want, without conditions of dimensions, volume or weight.
g. If the artist becomes a winner, the works presented in
the portfolio will not be automatically presented during the group show:
the selection of works that the artist will present during the group show will be the subject of a
discussion with the gallery, and may consist of old works (already
presented or not) or new works produced specifically for the occasion.
i. In these regulations and on the website in general, the use
of the masculine to designate people has the sole purpose of lightening the text and
identifies individuals of both sexes without discrimination, and all
individuals in general.
1. Call for applications
1.1. Personal space and dates
1.1.1. A call for applications is published on the website www.bastilleartprize.com
and advertised on the internet in general.
1.1.2. To participate, artists must complete a file of
application on the website, after having opened their personal space (“my
candidate profile”).
1.1.3. To avoid confusion, you are requested to open only one
account by artist.
1.1.4. The call for applications is open to all each year until the 15th
October at 11:59:59 p.m.
1.1.5. No additional time will be granted.
1.1.6. The application file consists of a PDF file to be uploaded to the space

1.1.7. Candidates must not send anything by post to the gallery
(mail, catalog, book, or work of art for example).
1.2. Registration fee
1.2.1. A registration fee must be paid online in order to participate in
a selection of the Bastille Art Prize.
1.2.2. The amount to be paid is €29.00.
1.2.3. A candidate is entirely free to withdraw his candidacy as long as
the results revealing the names of the winners are not announced, that is to say
before November 1 of each year, and within a maximum withdrawal period
90 days (approximately 3 months) following payment of the registration fee. In

1.3. Application file.
1.3.1. The application file must be uploaded online to the account

the author of the works presented, or having paid the registration fee in a
fraudulent, or having made insulting remarks against others

having a generally disrespectful attitude will be banned for life from

2. Roles of the selection committee, hereinafter referred to as
Jury
2.1. Selection of winners
2.1.1. The selection of the 5 winning artists is made by the Jury between the 16th
and October 31 of each year.
2.1.2. The Jury is composed of: Sarah Belmont, Olivier Landes, Hortense d'Hardemare,
Valentina Canseco, Emilie Roz, Maxime Benoit, Clémence Brachotte, Nastassia
Abbassi, Florian Gantheil, Céline Le Nay, Emmanuelle Dreyfus, Tony Devaux.
2.1.3. Each member of the Jury selects 10 artists whom he ranks in order of
preference, granting each artist thus selected a weighted score. All
These scores added together make it possible to determine a Top 5, which become the
winners of the edition.
2.1.4. The selection of winners is announced by the Bastille Art Prize in the
November 3rd. The announcement is made on the website and by email
to the candidates.
3. Role of the independent jury
3.1. The Bastille Art Prize is awarded by an independent jury to five winners
selected as described above.
3.2. The members of the jury are appointed by the Bessaud gallery.
3.3. Employees of the Bessaud gallery or members of their families do not
may in no case be part of the jury.
3.4. Each member of the jury certifies on his or her honor that he or she is not a member of the
family of one of the finalist artists.
3.5. Galerie Bessaud sends the application files to the jury from

conditions of this exhibition, including the remuneration of the artists which amounts to
at 50% of the selling price excluding tax of each work sold in its frame.
3.13. The names of the winners are revealed by the Bastille Art Prize during the day
November 3. The announcement is made on the website and by email to
candidates.
3.14. Candidates are prohibited from contacting any member
of the jury regarding the Bastille Art Prize, any questions should be addressed exclusively
to contact@bastilleartprize. Any failure to comply with this prohibition will result in a
immediate cancellation of the candidate's participation for the current year.
4. Copyright
4.1. Artists who have opened a personal space online remain
owners of all copyrights relating to the works of art and
to the information contained in their application file.
4.2. The finalists and winners grant Galerie Bessaud the right to
free reproduction without limitation of duration of the contents of their file
application. This right is limited to the communication made by the gallery (press releases

5. Personal data
5.1. Galerie Bessaud ensures that no personal information is
asked to candidates if it is not truly useful for the study of his
candidacy.
5.2. Candidates agree that their personal data may be subject to

5.3. In accordance with the GDPR law of May 25, 2018, candidates benefit from a
right of access, opposition and rectification of data concerning them in

5.4. Candidates agree that their personal information may be
communicated to third parties in the context of the application of the law or for
the normal organization of the Bastille Art Prize.
5.5. Candidates are free to delete their personal space at any time.

6. Postponement, cancellation, force majeure
6.1. Galerie Bessaud reserves the right to postpone or cancel
exceptionally the Bastille Art Prize if circumstances require it,
especially if the applications received do not allow for selection
of finalist artists meeting the quality criteria of the commission
artistic selection.
6.2. The candidates, the gallery and its subcontractors (collectively referred to as “
the Parties”) will not be liable for the non-performance of their obligations
in the event of the occurrence of a case of force majeure, defined as any event
unpredictable, irresistible and resulting from circumstances external to

6.3. In the event of exceptional cancellation for a reason other than the intervention
of a force majeure event, the registration fee paid for the year in

6.5. The gallery reserves the right to cancel an artist's application.

7. Applicable law
7.1. These regulations are subject to French law. Any disputes
likely to arise between the gallery and the candidates will be subject to the
competent courts of Paris. The gallery nevertheless reserves the right to take action
before any other competent court.
8. Acceptance
8.1. By participating, the artist acknowledges having read this
regulations which he expressly accepts without any reservation.
